Daughter of Zion

New Heart | New Spirit |New life.

"Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and gave thee to eat? Or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and take you in? Or naked and clothed you? 39 When saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the king shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you: Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
(Matthew 25:37 ff)

" Bear one another's burdens, and you will fulfill the law of Christ."

(Galatians 6:2)

My dear friends and followers,

We love to pray. We pray with faith, and we love to give our worries and needs to Jesus.

But we also believe in what the pastor Lawrence J. Crabb once said:

He said that the capacities for engagement with faith, with God, with questions of meaning, are not truly possible until the basic needs for material, emotional, and social support are provided.*

* (Lawrence J. Crabb (Hrsg): "Die Last des anderen"; Brunnen Verlag 2007)

When we are not provided for, when real need exists, then everything revolves around the question of how to go on:

  •  The mother who suddenly faces financial ruin due to the death of her husband cannot grieve if she does not know how to provide for her baby.

  • The low-income family, dependent on government assistance, doesn't know how to fulfill their daughter's desire for swinging skirts and sparkly tops.

  • The single mother doesn't earn enough to replace the already worn-out, too-short pants - let alone fulfill her son's birthday wish.

On the other side of the social ladder, there is plenty and abundance:

  • Children's clothes are thrown unworn into the old clothes bag.

  • In the cellar old toys are piled up - as good as new - and somehow nobody wants them. And so incomplete Playmobil, whole Lego sets, old pencils & stencils, old toy cars and fire engines end up sometime...simply in the trash, because there was never time for the flea market after all.

  • The oversize clothing - expensive and good - goes in the trash, because no one wears size 50.We all have something left over that is piling up, not needed, that we wouldn't really miss, but the clothing stores are closing. But in a time when poverty and helplessness and social decline in an affluent society is seen as pure shame and self-infliction, there is little willingness to "carry each other's burdens"

Those who suffer are often the children.

Helplessly at the mercy of a situation they do not understand: "That's just the way it is with us, it's just different with us!" conveys to them the message that others are better, more provided for, more loved, more valuable.

As a leader of Zion's Daughter, I deeply believe in the value of word & deed. Standing by without judgment those with whom Jesus also ate, first binding up the wounds, bringing hope, communicating eye level and value is completely central to me. Of course "we can't save the world"- but we can bring the message:

  • "You are seen- and I see you too".

  • "I give you what I don't need and rejoice in your joy".

  • "I serve you with my knowledge and you count. You are seen by God and he will not let you down.  "

Our last package drive consisted of 12 packages. All of them went to children of needy families, and the shining children's eyes, the gratitude and also the bewilderment "that there are such good people" show me how such gestures are almost more important than the things themselves, because it erases the feeling of loneliness.

Through additional donations, we were able to fulfill a little six-year-old girl's dream of swinging skirts, glitter, new, valuable clothes, and give new hope to a newly widowed mother of a three-month-old baby and a five-year-old.

In addition, our project offers both pastoral care and psychological counseling based on the Christian view of humanity. We baptize when churches refuse baptism- on site and with a small baptism ceremony.

We offer social counseling via Zoom- on the topics of applying for pensions, support from the job center, housing subsidy office, family allowance, so that in emergencies new perspectives can be found and lonely excessive demands can be overcome.

We do all this with reference to John 10:10:

"A thief comes only to steal, slaughter and kill. I have come that they may have life and be fully satisfied."

We take Jesus at his word.

But where and how can I, as a person affected, find practical, immediate support, where can I ask?

Of course, we at Zion's Daughter cannot cover everything. Our time and material resources are limited. We are dependent on donations, we are dependent on people who have what we need and are willing to share their knowledge, their energy and their material abundance.

Anyway, Zion's Daughter is connected to the Neighborhood Help group on Facebook: "If you help me then I'll help you". The group, which supports each other free of charge, now has (and only the main group) 25000 members. The leader of the group - Anna- is a remarkable Christian and a member of the Zion Daughter Community.

Here you can go directly to her group:

We as a Zion Daughter group proceed as follows:

  • We learn from you that you need help and why, with what, what is needed

  • We pray, and if we get the green light from Jesus, your request for help with a call for donations or a request for donations in kind/professional help is published in the Zion Daughter Community or at Help me then I'll help you, or we refer you on our own responsibility.

  •   We start to ask in our circles of friends and social environments.

  •   We wait for donations and use them according to prayer and guidance.

  • We pack parcels, and in extreme exceptional cases we take over the postage costs from donations. In doing so, we pack personally, affectionately and for a specific purpose.

  • We pray for further clarification of your situation.

Please note: We do not transfer money!
We help with material resources and social counseling, but not with monthly payments, one-time payments or blank checks.

This guarantees us a minimum of security against fraud and misappropriation, lack of need, etc. But: We clarify with you in advance what you need and what you like. With food packages we clarify with you what you like to eat and what you really need. For hygiene products and baby food, we clarify the brands and products used in advance.

We will be happy to answer any other questions you may have at
